Tourist Help Point
Hosting, Guidance and Assistance to Fellow Mexicans
“We want all fellow Mexicans
returning to or transiting via Mexico and who ask us for information or
guidance to become spokespersons with others. We want them to talk about the
enthusiasm, warmth and effort with which we welcomed them, so that they are
treated decently and according to the right that all Mexicans have on returning
to their home country”: PAISANO-SECTUR.

It is now one of the Mexican
government’s priorities to guarantee that Mexicans resident abroad and
who return to or visit Mexico have their rights respected and are treated
fairly. Therefore, the “Paisano Program’s” concrete and
ongoing measures work toward ensuring that Mexican immigrants’ fundamental
rights are respected, and these measures are implemented by all government
agencies with all fellow Mexicans entering and leaving the country.
Since 1989, the Ministry of
Tourism has participated in promoting and implementing measures, agreed by different
government departments, as part of the framework “Interagency Commission
on the Paisano Program”, in order to:

Simplify administrative procedures
and services for fellow Mexicans
Provide and
broadcast information about public services involved in their return to Mexico
Give support
to help guide and provide security for fellow Mexicans on their return to
Mexico
Monitor the
legality and effectiveness of public services provided for fellow Mexicans in
their administrative procedures for returning to and transiting through Mexico
Provide tourist guidance and assistance
As part of the “Paisano
Program”, the Ministry of Tourism provides incentives and facilitates
fellow Mexicans to return and stay in Mexico, through hosting, guidance and
assistance to fellow Mexicans at any of the51 Help Desks located at the main
border areas, international airports and bus terminals in 20 states across the
country, in coordination with State Government Agencies and
volunteers who provide their community service for the benefit of fellow
Mexicans.
